Happy New Year!!
2014. It's here. Are you ready for it?
I've always loved the start of a new year. For me as a youth worker it was like half-time. You're half way through the school year. Half way through your ministry calendar. Half way into your plans for the students you serve.
But along with it being the half way point, the new year also provides the opportunity to establish a fresh start, even in the middle of the year. Think about the purpose of the half time. After 2 quarters of play, the half time provides an opportunity for the players to take a break. To rest. To get refocused for the second half. It also gives the coaches a few minutes to evaluate their position. To access the game. To review what they've been doing with their game strategy and consider the efforts of the other team. When it's all said and done, they return to the field of play ready to go and battle for a win. And I love when the sports commentators grab the coaches as they're coming back onto the field. They always ask the coaches, So what do you need to do better in the second half to win this game?
The same can be applied to your student ministry. You've just completed the first half of the game. You've had a little bit of a break over the Christmas holiday. But now it's time to get back on the field. So what do you need to do to make the second half better than the first?
Have you set goals for this second half? What do you hope to see happen in the lives of your students over the next couple of months?
What goals have you set for your life? What do you hope to see happen in your life over the next couple of months?
I'd like to hear from you? What goals have you set for 2014? Take a few minutes and share what you want 2014 to look like. Be a part of the conversation!
